People have been asking us to brew this beer for years.  “Can’t you brew Somerland Gold at 4%?  We want to session on it all day.” We’ve heard that more than once!  And we understand the desire for a sessionable beer that keeps flavour at the fore.  But it goes against everything we believe in to just water down a recipe.  However, the constant requests got us thinking.  How can we give people what they want and stay true to our beliefs? The answer was to brew a beer we wanted to drink that was similar in impact but not flavour, and lower in alcohol.  Where Somerland Gold is much closer to an English IPA / Continental Blonde, Merry Gold has the more classic fruity and estery attributes of English ales and wraps it in a fresh, golden package.

The result – a gorgeous golden ale with a wheaty malt flavour, berry fruits, and a crisp bitter finish. The perfect session beer. Be Merry!  Sometimes you do get everything you want and need.
